Sindh Newspapers Society (SNS) organized its second Endowment Fund Ceremony, reaffirming its commitment to supporting struggling media professionals within its member publications. DGPR Sindh Muizz Pirzada hailed the initiative as a symbol of resilience, emphasizing SNS’s relentless pursuit of empowerment and sustainability for the newspaper industry.
The ceremony was graced by Director General of Public Relations (DGPR) Sindh, Muizzuddin Peerzada, as the chief guest, accompanied by Director Admin Mansoor Ahmed Rajput, Director Press Hizbullah Memon, Section Officer Muhammad Nazir Ahmed, and Superintendent Ammar Ahmed.
In their addresses, the esteemed guests lauded SNS’s unwavering dedication, emphasizing that despite scarce resources, the society has set an exemplary precedent by prioritizing the welfare of its members.
The SNS President extended a cordial welcome to the distinguished guests, presenting them with Sindhi cap as a symbol of Sindh’s rich cultural heritage. Secretary General Rizwan Shah honored them with Ajraks, while Executive Committee Member Mukhtar Ahmed Somro offered elegant floral bouquets as tokens of appreciation.
The event commenced with a soulful recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by an insightful address by Deedar Sandilo, who elaborated on the objectives of the Endowment Fund Program. He reaffirmed SNS’s unwavering commitment to expanding financial assistance as more resources become available.
Mr. Sandilo also shed light on the dire financial challenges faced by the newspaper industry, underscoring that advertising revenue remains the lifeline of print media. However, both provincial and federal authorities have persistently overlooked member newspapers in ad distribution, exacerbating financial instability and threatening the survival of countless journalists and media professionals.
In light of these pressing concerns, he fervently urged the distinguished guests to advocate for equitable ad allocations, ensuring that member newspapers receive their rightful share of government advertisements.
The ceremony culminated with DGPR Sindh Muizzuddin Peerzada, Director Admin Mansoor Ahmed Rajput, and Director Press Hizbullah Memon personally distributing financial aid cheques to deserving recipients, further reinforcing SNS’s mission of solidarity and support.
The gathering was attended by prominent members of the SNS Executive Committee and Governing Body, including Shahid Ansari, Aamir Rathore, Syed Iqbal Hussain, along with several other distinguished personalities from the media fraternity.
This initiative stands as a beacon of hope for the struggling newspaper industry, symbolizing SNS’s relentless pursuit of empowering and uplifting media professionals.
